Swine Influenza (H1N1): A Piggish Reality
Bird flu, monkey pox and now swine flu. What is it about animals and a disease
that gets us panicked? It’s like that overused porn star nickname generator. “Take
your favorite animal and combine it with a communicable disease and create
a frenzy!”
People, take a deep breath and relax. Get some perspective by volunteering
at your local animal shelter or Ronald McDonald House and meet some fellow
beings with some real problems.
Quit focusing on what you might catch and release some stress. Celebrate
the health you do have today. It’s the beginning of spring – go
splash in some rain puddles, pick some flowers or get your feet muddy.
And for Pete’s sake, try to laugh. Actually, this swine flu chaos is
kind of funny. If nothing else, YouTube the Peter Saarsgard SARS Guard clip
from Saturday Night Live.
